Station Cottage is a recent comprehensive, unique conversion of the 1851 granite and sandstone railway station. It has retained many authentic features such as the original station clock. Within the Lake District National Park on the Carlisle to Barrow platform of Bootle Station Cumbria which is a request station with a manned, grade II listed signal box.

It serves Hycemoor, Eskmeals, Waberthwaite with a great pub and Bootle, with a village store and Post Office.

Near to the beach and Black Combe. Ravenglass, Muncaster, Eskdale, Wastwater, Scafell Pike, Corney Fell and Hard Knott are a short distance away.
