Railway Cottage is a fabulous period cottage, built by Isambard Kingdom Brunel himself as he built the West Somerset Steam Railway. Please do look at The West Somerset Railway website for full timetable details of when the railway is running. Railway Cottage is a single storey stone cottage which sleeps up to six plus a baby in three bedrooms with two bathrooms.
The views from the cottage are simply stunning either to the railway line itself, what could be better for either children than the magnificent steam locomotives passing by. You will never tire of seeing these beautiful trains pass by the original ganger’s cottage. The stunning Quantock Hills fill the landscape and buzzards can be seen majestically soaring above.
The decor of the cottage is finished in a modern, comfortable country style with a shaker style kitchen complete with belfast sink, wood and granite worktops and 21st century appliances including dishwasher, washer dryer, fridge freezer and electric oven with ceramic hob. The kitchen/dining room has an oak table and a cosy woodburner with all logs provided. The sitting room has fabulously comfy leather sofas and a plasma tv with freesat and dvd player, there are doors out to the garden and hot tub.
Railway Cottage has three bedrooms, one with an en-suite shower room and five foot king-size bed and views of the railway, the second bedroom has twin beds and views of the Quantocks. Bedroom three has a five foot king-size bed and again wonderful hill views. The main bathroom has a magnificent period bath.
Railway Cottage is in a wonderful location for both short breaks and longer holidays, there is lots to see and do in this wonderful corner of Somerset from walking and riding to the Steam Railway itself, Dunster and its Castle , the caves at Cheddar and Wookey Hole and endless beaches to visit from the surfing beaches of North Devon to the charming Lyme Regis.
