Rowden Mill Station

DESCRIPTION

Located in North Herefordshire, Rowden Mill Station is a former GWR railway station along the Bromyard Branch between Leominster and Worcester.

Externally the restoration is done in exacting detail, recreating the look of the station during the latter years of operation and features platform lights, signboards, timetables and posters of the late 1940’s / early 1950’s. The site includes several hundred metres of double track, two platforms and much more by way of recreated detail. For sunny days, a large gas BBQ is provided.

The station buildings are situated on the main platform, with relaxing views over the hills of North Herefordshire. After dark, the whole platform can be lit by original platform lighting. Internally both buildings have been restored sympathetically with period features while at the same time converted to practical modern living.

The Station Building accommodates 4 guests in two bedrooms. It has a lounge with a wood-burning stove, a well fitted kitchen and a Victorian style family bathroom flooded with natural light. The magnificent station canopy over the platform provides a spectacular setting for outside dining and from where to enjoy the extensive countryside views.

Along the platform is the Parcel Office, original to the station.

This self-contained space accommodates 2 further guests. It has an ensuite bathroom, a wood-burning stove and kitchen facilities. With a projector and screen, a DVD/Blu Ray player and fast wifi, the Parcel Office offers a fabulous home-cinema experience. The large room has a double bed, a table and chairs for dining and a sofa-bed for comfortable sitting while watching a film or enjoying the lovely views of the rolling hills.

The Parcel Office, when in conjunction with the Station Building, works very well as an annexe for larger families or groups of friends.

Regarding small children, Rowden Mill Station has platforms, railway lines and other railway detail with a trip hazard which we can not realistically mitigate. We suggest that our site is suitable for older children and those not yet independently mobile. Please call to discuss if unsure of suitability, we do not charge for babies in travel cots.
