The Saloon Coach at Rowden Mill Station

DESCRIPTION

Inspection Saloon DB999508 arrived at Rowden Mill Station in October 2020 and resides at Platform 2 just along the line form our main platform. Renamed ‘the Saloon Coach’ it is now fitted out for holiday letting and sleeps 4 in 2 bedrooms.

The Saloon Coach sits next to the old cattle dock within the original railway embankments and with the stone bridge as a backdrop. Lined with trees and ferns the green platform is frequently carpeted with wildflowers. The picnic table and bbq facilities are dedicated to coach guests. Wifi is available in and around the coach.

With panoramic windows, the Lounge-Diner at one end of the coach makes the most of the views. True to the decade of when the Saloon Coach was built, the lounge is comfortably furnished with mid-century furniture and 1960’s styled sofas. A period dining table and chairs completes the look of this spacious room.

The Kitchen is next along the corridor. This is a modern kitchen equipped with a gas hob / electric oven, fridge and dishwasher. The space is original to the Saloon Coach, prior to refitting it would have catered for railway engineers while inspecting the network.

The Luggage Compartment is the first room that guests see on entering the coach. It provides storage and cloakroom facilities. Next along is the Bathroom which is a modern bright shower room equipped with all modern fittings.

Following along the corridor is the 2nd Sleeping Compartment, it has adult-sized bunk beds and various open shelving for storage. There are black-out blinds on the windows of this deceptively spacious bedroom.

The Main Bedroom at the far end of the corridor enjoys views to both sides, and of the green platform. An original G-Plan headboard with integrated bedside tables frames the bed. This room also has full black-out blinds.
